ABOUT MY BUSINESS

This is resturent THE KHURURI.. Subhadra Limbu arrived about three years ago and opened The Khukri Restaurant about a year ago. “Malaysia is my home now. I’ve built a new life here. “It’s very different from Nepal but it is peaceful here, we don’t live in fear of being killed,” said the mother of one who followed her husband here. Suddenly, all my grouses about the state of the nation pale in comparison. It is nice to be able to move freely without fear of insurgents kidnapping you to negotiate with the government or having your suburb ravished by political fanatics. Yes, the antics of our Members of Parliament in the Dewan Rakyat now seem very docile, even civilized. Life is, perhaps after all, relative. As I probably looked lost while reading the menu, Limbu graciously recommended the Dhedo Khana Set. “It’s a traditional Nepalese food made from millet flour and served with curry, spicy yogurt, fried potatoes and spinach. Most Malaysians need to get used to eating the dhedo, but Nepalese love it,” she said. Eating the dhedo – their version of roti canai but more paste-like than bread-like – was certainly unfamiliar. But definitely worth the experience especially if you have not been to Nepal, and I now know how some Westerners feel when they eat our asam laksa – probably a shock to their taste buds. Nepalese food can be described as a milder version of Indian food and the dhedo set was like a typical banana leaf rice set with the rice replaced by the dhedo. The Khukri is a contemporary restaurant located in the heart of kuala lumpur few minutes from Puduraya Bus park, specialising in Nepalese cuisine. We offer a fine dining experience that compares to no other. We have free internet wireless . About Limbu History and Cultural

In the latter part of the eighteenth century Nepal was formed by uniting various ethnic groups and numerous principalities under a high-caste Hindu dynasty. This conquest resulted in a number of migrations of high-caste Hindu groups into eastern Nepal, causing an ethnic and cultural split with the Limbus. Limbus are considered the first settlers of east Nepal and are thought to be descendants of the Kiratis. Limbus became known to history in the eighteenth century, at a time when a number of small chiefdoms in Limbuan were under the authority of the kingdom of Bijayapur. The Limbus were expected to grant land to the immigrants for their support. The Nepalese government brought all tribal lands (with the exception of certain Limbus) under raikar, "a system of landlordism under which the rights of an individual to utilization and transfer of the land are recognized by the state as long as taxes are paid." Before this system was enforced all Limbu groups held land under the system of kipat, in which "an Individual obtains rights to land by virtue of his membership in a series of nesting kin groups." This change of land tenure caused Limbus to lose lands to the Hindu immigrants, who were mostly of Brahman caste. There were two reasons for this change. First, a shortage of lands was beginning to be felt, and therefore the government dissolved all the Limbuan rights to their kipat lands. A second factor was the absence of ownership documents, which led to legal conflicts over ownership and rent. Surrendered kipat lands helped to finance revenue settlements, postal services, and the army. The Limbus were left only with the land they were living on and cultivating. The Brahmans had some advantages over Limbus: they were skilled and had labor resources that the Limbus lacked and needed. They were also able to read and write, which qualified them for administrative jobs and forced the abolition of the kipat system. In the eyes of the Limbus, Brahmans were "ungrateful servants" who were trusted with their land but "stole" it instead. The Limbus are now determined to salvage their land under the kipat system and refrain from passing it on to members of other groups. Brahmans, at a cost to the Limbus, have become the most authoritarian ethnic group in east Nepal. Resentment is also felt by the Brahmans toward the Limbus; Brahmans regard the Limbus as "simple" and "concerned only for the present." Brahmans feel that if Limbus had looked to the future, they would not have granted their lands. The Limbuan struggle for land is an ongoing process that continues to affect social and political conditions in the region.

The Ramp modeling Agency Jayan Subba (manandhar)

Director Jayan Subba's charming face turns slightly serious as she reminisces her modeling days more than a decade back. "We had to struggle a lot. Our conservative society had a negative viewpoint about models. But, although few fashion shows were organized, they were qualitative shows. There were very few models so we were in great demands." She still remembers her first remuneration as a model. "I had modeled for Starling dots and received Rs. 4000. I brought a cable line for my home with that money." Her smile returns back. After modeling for almost thirty fashion shows, Jayan Subba decided to take a back seat. She got involved in 'The Ramp', Nepal's oldest and one of the leading modeling agencies. Today, as a proprietor, she is extremely busy in training young models. "We teach the aspiring models to be professional and not to be carried away with short phased fame and adulation." She remarks. "My favorite international models are Mehr Jessia, Sheetal Molar, Nina, Naomi Campbell, and Cindy Crafts". Inside Nepal, she likes models Monima Khadka, Kala Subba and Season Bhattachan. A model, choreographer, photographer and journalist, Jayan is also a loving wife and mother. With so much work on her closet, it is surprising how she manages them so well. "I have received a wonderful family. It is their support that has helped me be what I am today." She throws a charismatic smile to me along with her words.

Emerald Academy Founder Principal Pabitra Limbu

Pabitra Limbu's interview here: with Fair skin, beautiful and attractive body who wears sari and always keep matching hair style with face. She is a founder for a school and we can see her talking with children's of the school many times. She had spent most of the time of her life in abroad and now she is devoted in education sector. She had done master degree in Montessori from London and completed trainer training from Cambridge. Limbu is currently working as a trainer for Nepal English Language training association, Education officer for Peace Core, Founder principal for Emerald Academy, founder for Montessori Kinder world and training centre.Pabitra is concern about operational method for Nepal's Education. How was your behavior when you were child? I was like a leader, egotistical but was trustworthy person for guardian. I always loved to do creative work and my parents used to believe I will to something in future. Do you feel challenging to be a principal for Emerald school? Life itself is a challenge so we have to face every challenge then it will become easier. I have lots of experienced in life. I used to love children's from the beginning and they have different feeling, behavior and mentality than us. I had a vision to do some thing for children and there is need of pre-primary education before primary schooling. It is most important to build a strong foundation for children for better education. So this small my world is a result of all matters and needs. Why did you named kings world as Montessori? Montessori education system is a world wide famous education system and I am really impressed by this system of education. This is the one system where we do teach children after understanding children's philosophy. This is a scientific method of teaching, where we teach how children grows, what children want, how their mindset is and how can we fulfill. Unhealthy competition is there and it would be better to work if there would be healthy competition. are the areas of children can be taken care What are the things you teach to children and what of by this teaching? We don't teach to children but they will teach us many things. Here we try to help to develop their mental, social, physical and emotional talent and ability. What are the difference between Nepal's parents and others countries parents behavior towards their children? Nepal parents not serious towards their children's desire and we never notice their desire, interest and rights but others countries parents always respect their children. Are you satisfied with your profession? Yes I am. I am lucky that I am in this profession. It is so interesting to be in this profession and we teach good tradition and behavior to children I think this is big thing for us. How do you evaluate Nepal's woman condition and position? Woman condition and position is changing rapidly but there are no similarities and equalities. Some are in very high position and some are in very low but still it is changing by multiplying. How can we do woman's development? We have to give Equal opportunity for education. How can we hope equality by sending sons to boarding school and daughters to government school? Whom do you fear most Experience as a woman Own self.? i am very happy to be woman, we have a power and we have to use it properly. We get love from children and husband. We have blessing from Saraswoti, Laxmi and Kali. Do you have any advice to woman? Don't regret to be a woman. Believe in yourself and if we want we can do much more thing in life. We are a beautiful creature of nature. post by: subhadra lingden.
